How does the Combo Rafting and Tazi Canyon 6 in 1 tour from Antalya work?

From Antalya up into the mountains of Köprülü Canyon

We pick up guests from hotels in Antalya between about 08:00 and 09:00 and head for Köprülü Canyon National Park. Gradually the coast falls behind, pine forests, mountain slopes and rocks appear outside the window, and the closer you get to the Köprüçay River, the fresher the air.

Helmets, life jackets and a briefing, no experience needed

At the rafting centre there’s time to change into your swimwear. Take your bag with dry clothes and your phone onto the open-top bus: your things stay on board during the rafting, and you collect them at the finish, at the rafting centre. The team explains the order of the rafting, the zipline and the buggy or quad ride.

Everyone is fitted with a helmet and life jacket, and the instructor shows you the essentials: where to sit in the raft, how to hold the paddle and what to do at each command. No experience is needed: the route is designed for beginners and has no difficult rapids. You’re not allowed to raft barefoot, so if you don’t have suitable shoes, you can hire water shoes here.

A longer cabrio safari, up to Tazi Canyon

If you’d like to go up to the paid panoramic platform at Tazi Canyon, tell the instructor while you’re still at the rafting centre, before boarding the open-top buses; our representative collects the $5 at the canyon. If you don’t say anything, you’ll go to the first viewpoint, which is included.

Then the group moves to the open-top safari buses. Unlike on the programmes without Tazi Canyon, they don’t stop at the rafting start but climb on, higher up to the viewpoint. The road runs through the pine forests and mountain stretches of the park. The buses have no roof, so the pines and mountain slopes are all around you, not behind glass.

On the way we cross the Roman Oluk Bridge over the Köprüçay River. It was built around the 2nd century, is about 1,900 years old and stands about 27 metres high. The road here is narrow, so we usually don’t stop: the bus drives right across the bridge, and you can see it up close and photograph it from your seat.

Photo stop at Tazi Canyon, the “Valley of Wisdom”

Tazi Canyon is a narrow gorge about 4 km long, with rock walls rising more than 200 metres. It’s also known as the “Valley of Wisdom”.

There’s no long walk: the open-top bus stops almost at the canyon itself. From the first viewpoint you see the gorge, the mountains and the Köprüçay River far below, the river you’ll soon be rafting down. You stop here to look around and take pictures. Guests who chose the national park’s wooden panoramic platform in advance look out over the canyon from there.

There’s no railing along the edge, so it’s best to stay well back from the drop, and children need to be watched closely.

14 km of rafting on the Köprüçay River

From the canyon, the open-top buses take the group back down to the river. At Oluk Bridge guests are split into rafts, usually 8–10 people, and an instructor stays with each raft for the whole route, telling you when to paddle and when to hold on.

Calm stretches, where you can look around at the rocks and pines, alternate with faster ones, where the raft bounces over small waves and everyone gets splashed. The Köprüçay is a mountain river with water usually at 15–20°C, so on a hot day the rafting is properly refreshing. The route finishes at the rafting centre.

Zipline over the Köprüçay River

After the rafting comes the zipline. Staff help you into the harness, check the fit and explain what to do at the start.

Then you push off from the platform and glide along a steel cable over the Köprüçay River, with the water below and the rocks and pine-covered slopes of Köprülü Canyon all around. After the ride we head back to the rafting centre.

Buggy or quad, your choice, on forest and mountain tracks

The last active part of the tour is a ride on the track by buggy or quad, whichever you choose. A buggy is a small open two-seater that drives much like a car. On a quad bike you sit astride, as on a motorbike, and feel the road more.

The buggy and quad area is next to the rafting centre. Before the start, staff check the vehicles, hand out helmets and explain the controls: where the throttle and the brake are, how to take bends and how much distance to keep. Each buggy or quad takes two people; you can drive from the age of 14, and children aged 6–13 ride as passengers with an adult. Children aged 0–5 can’t ride buggies or quads.

The track is closed and built for the purpose, not a public road: dusty forest trails, bends, short climbs and rough ground, with pine forests and mountain slopes all around.

Lunch by the river: chicken, pasta and salad

Lunch is waiting at the rafting centre once all the active parts of the day are behind you. The menu is usually chicken, pasta and salad; drinks are paid for separately. Before lunch you can swap your wet clothes for dry ones.

Guests on other programmes come to the rafting centre: rafting, the zipline, buggy and quad safaris, and the Tazi Canyon and Selge tour. Everyone travels back to the hotels together, so after lunch you may sometimes need to wait while the other guests finish their part of the route. You can spend this time by the Köprüçay River, sitting in the shade of the trees and taking your last photos.

Back to your hotel

Once everyone is together, we head back to Antalya. Guests are usually back at their hotels between 18:30 and 19:30. The exact time depends on where your hotel is, on traffic and on how quickly all the groups finish the programme.

In one day you see Tazi Canyon from above, cross Oluk Bridge in an open-top bus, raft 14 km down the Köprüçay, glide over the river on the zipline and ride a buggy or quad on a mountain track.

Book your seat online with no prepayment. You pay for the tour on the bus on the day.

In the form that opens, enter your full name, hotel, WhatsApp number and email, then send it. No prepayment: you pay on the bus on the day of the tour. Once your booking is confirmed, we send you an e-ticket with the exact pickup time via WhatsApp or Telegram. For step-by-step instructions with pictures, see “How to book and pay on the bus”.

Where do you pick us up from?
We pick up guests from hotels in Kundu, Lara, Kaleiçi, Antalya city centre and Konyaaltı. The bus waits at your hotel gate, by the security post, just outside the barrier.

Your exact pickup time will be on your e-ticket once your booking is confirmed.

What time will we be back at the hotel?
Guests are usually back at their hotels in Antalya between 18:30 and 19:30.

The exact time depends on where your hotel is and on traffic. Everyone travels back to the hotels together, so you may sometimes need to wait while other groups finish their part of the programme.

Buggy or quad: which should I choose?
The combo tour includes one ride on the track, by buggy or by quad bike, so you pick one option. It’s best to enter your choice in the “Special Requests” field when you book, but you can also make the final decision on the spot.

A buggy is a light open two-seater that drives much like a car. A quad bike is a four-wheeled vehicle you sit astride, as on a motorbike. Buggies and quads use the same track, not far from the rafting centre. The choice comes down to which feels more comfortable and relaxed for you.

As standard, two people share one buggy or one quad. If you’d like to ride on your own, the supplement is $10. Please also mention this in the “Special Requests” field when you book.

You can drive a buggy or quad from the age of 14. Children aged 6–13 can ride as passengers with an adult driver. Children aged 0–5 don’t ride buggies or quads. No driving licence is needed, because the ride takes place on a closed track in the park, not on public roads. Before setting off, staff give a briefing and explain the rules of the track.

Where does the zipline run?
The zipline is in Köprülü Canyon: a ride along a steel cable over the Köprüçay River.

Before the ride, staff put a safety harness on each guest and check it. After the ride, the group returns to the rafting centre.

No special preparation is needed: just listen to the staff and follow their instructions.

What is Tazi Canyon?
Tazi Canyon is a mountain gorge in Köprülü Canyon National Park. It was carved by the Köprüçay River, which cut its way through the rock over many centuries.

The canyon is about 4 km long, and in its deepest parts the rock walls are more than 200 metres high. It’s also known as the “Valley of Wisdom”.

The open-top bus pulls up almost at the canyon itself, so there’s hardly any walking. The stop at the viewpoint is for the views and photos.

Please take care at the canyon: the edge is not fenced, so don’t go too close, and keep a close eye on your children.

Do I have to pay extra to see Tazi Canyon?
No. From the first Tazi Canyon viewpoint you look out over the gorge, the mountains and the Köprüçay River far below, and this view is included in the tour price.

The second viewpoint is a wooden panoramic platform built by the national park. Entry is a separate $5 ticket and is optional. If you’d like to go up, tell the instructor before boarding the open-top safari buses, otherwise you’ll go to the free viewpoint. Our representative at the canyon collects the payment.

What is a cabrio safari?
A cabrio safari is a ride in open-top safari buses from the rafting centre up to Tazi Canyon, and then down to the rafting start by Oluk Bridge.

The route runs through the pine forests and mountain areas of Köprülü Canyon National Park, and on the way the bus crosses the Roman Oluk Bridge. It’s part of the programme, not the transfer from your hotel.

Between your hotel and Köprülü Canyon, guests travel in an air-conditioned minibus, not an open-top bus.

Can I go rafting with no experience?
Yes, no experience is needed.

The rafting takes place on the Köprüçay River. The route is suitable for beginners and has no difficult rapids. There’s an instructor in every raft.

Before the start you’re shown how to sit, how to hold the paddle and how to follow commands. Everyone wears a helmet and a life jacket.

How cold is the water in the Köprüçay River?
The Köprüçay is a mountain river, so the water is cool.

It’s usually around 15–20°C. If you feel the cold easily, you can hire a wetsuit for $10.

How long does the rafting take?
The rafting route is about 14 km long.

On the water it takes about 1.5–2 hours. The exact time depends on the water level and the pace of the group.

From what age can children go rafting?
Children can take part in the rafting from the age of 6.

Children aged 0–5 travel free but don’t take part in the rafting or ride the buggy or quad.

Children aged 6–12 pay the child price and take part in the whole programme, including the rafting and the zipline, and they ride the buggy or quad as passengers with an adult. From the age of 13 the adult price applies.

Can I choose a two-seater kayak?
Yes, you can.

A two-seater kayak costs extra: $10 per kayak, not per person. If you’d like this option, mention it in the “Special Requests” field when you book.

What shoes do I need for rafting and the safari?
You need shoes that stay firmly on your feet and don’t slip on wet surfaces.

You are not allowed to go rafting barefoot. At the rafting centre you can hire water shoes for $5 or buy a pair for $10.

For the buggy or quad safari, closed-toe shoes are the better choice.

Do I need a wetsuit?
In summer, swimwear is enough for most guests.

A wetsuit is worth taking in spring or autumn, or if you get cold quickly in cool water. Wetsuit hire costs $10.

Where can I leave my things during the active part of the programme?
During the rafting your things stay on the open-top bus.

The rafting finishes at the rafting centre, and that’s where you collect them.

It’s best not to bring valuables on the tour.

Are photos and video included in the price?
No, professional photos and video cost extra.

Photos and video cost $15 per person. Buying them is optional.

During the rafting it’s best to leave your phone on the open-top bus with your things, so you don’t risk it on the water.

Will my child have their own seat on the bus?
Children aged 6–12 with the child price paid get their own seat.

Children aged 0–5 travel free and don’t get a seat of their own: they sit on an adult’s lap.

If your child aged 0–5 needs their own seat, pay the child price for them when you book.
