How does the Rafting and Tazi Canyon 4 in 1 tour from Kemer work?
From Kemer to the Köprüçay River
We pick you up from your hotel in Kemer between 07:00 and 08:00 and head for Köprülü Canyon National Park. The road leaves the coast for pine forests, rocks and mountain slopes, and by the Köprüçay River the air turns noticeably cooler.
Helmets, life jackets and a briefing before the start
At the rafting centre the team explains how the day will run and when the rafting starts, and there’s time to change into your swimwear. Your bag and phone travel with you on the open-top bus and stay on board while you’re rafting.
The instructors find each of you a helmet and life jacket that fit and go through the essentials: where to sit in the raft, how to use the paddle and which commands you’ll hear on the water. The route is designed for beginners, so you don’t need any preparation, even if it’s your first time rafting.
A longer cabrio safari, up to Tazi Canyon
If you’d like to go up to the paid panoramic platform at the canyon, tell the instructor while you’re still at the rafting centre, before boarding the open-top buses; our representative collects the $5 at the canyon. If you don’t say anything, you’ll go to the first viewpoint, which is included.
Then the group moves to open-top safari buses. This ride is longer than on the standard rafting tour: the bus drives on past the rafting start point and climbs higher into the mountains. With no roof overhead, the wind, the pines and the slopes of Köprülü Canyon National Park are all around you, not behind glass.
On the way the bus crosses the Roman Oluk Bridge over the Köprüçay River. It was built in the 2nd century, is about 1,900 years old and stands about 27 metres high. The road over the bridge is narrow, so the bus usually doesn’t stop here, but you drive right across it, and from the open bus it’s easy to take pictures.
Photo stop at Tazi Canyon, the “Valley of Wisdom”
Tazi Canyon is a narrow gorge that runs for about 4 km, with rock walls rising more than 200 metres where it is deepest. It’s also known as the “Valley of Wisdom”. There’s no long walk: the bus stops almost at the canyon itself. From the edge you look out over the mountains, sheer cliffs and the Köprüçay River far below, the same river you’ll soon be rafting down.
This stop is for photos. There’s no railing along the edge, so please stay well back from the drop and keep children by your side.
14 km of rafting on the Köprüçay River
From the canyon the open-top buses head down to the rafting start by Oluk Bridge. Guests are split into rafts, usually 8–10 people, and every raft has an instructor on board who tells you when to paddle, when to hold on and how to take the faster stretches.
The route is about 14 km long, with no difficult rapids: calm stretches, where you can take in the rocks and pines along the banks, alternate with faster water, small waves and splashes. The mountain river is cool, around 15–20°C, which is very refreshing on a hot day; if you get cold easily, a wetsuit helps. Children can join the rafting from the age of 6.
Lunch by the river: chicken, pasta and salad
You finish at the same rafting centre where you changed in the morning. Here you collect your things from the open-top bus, change into dry clothes and have lunch: usually chicken, pasta and salad. Drinks are paid for separately.
Rafting tours in Köprülü Canyon run in mixed groups: on the bus and at the rafting centre you may be with guests from our other programmes, such as the zipline, the buggy or quad safari, or the Tazi Canyon and Selge tour. While they finish their part of the route, you have free time to sit by the river and take photos. Everyone travels back to the hotels together.
Back to your hotel
Towards evening we drive back to Kemer. Guests are usually back at their hotels between 18:30 and 19:30. The exact time depends on where your hotel is, on traffic and on the pace of the group.
See the Köprüçay River from the edge of Tazi Canyon, then raft down it, all in one day.
Book your seat online with no prepayment. You pay for the tour on the bus on the day.

What is Tazi Canyon?
Tazi Canyon is a mountain gorge in Köprülü Canyon National Park. It was carved by the Köprüçay River, which cut its way through the rock over many centuries.
The canyon is about 4 km long, and in its deepest parts the rock walls are more than 200 metres high. It’s also known as the “Valley of Wisdom”.
We drive you almost right up to the canyon, so there’s no long hike. You only need to walk a short way to see the views and take photos.
Please take care at the canyon: the edge is not fenced, so don’t go too close, and keep a close eye on your children.
Do I have to pay extra to see Tazi Canyon?
No. From the first Tazi Canyon viewpoint you look out over the gorge, the mountains and the Köprüçay River far below, and this view is included in the tour price.
The second viewpoint is a wooden panoramic platform built by the national park. Entry is a separate $5 ticket and is optional. If you’d like to go up, tell the instructor before boarding the open-top safari buses, otherwise you’ll go to the free viewpoint. Our representative at the canyon collects the payment.
What is a cabrio safari?
A cabrio safari is a ride in open-top buses from the rafting centre to Tazi Canyon and on to the rafting start point. The route runs through the pine forests and mountain areas of Köprülü Canyon National Park. It’s part of the adventure itself, not the transfer from your hotel.
Transfers to and from your hotel are in an air-conditioned minibus, not an open-top bus.
Is there a stop at Oluk Bridge?
Usually not, as the road over the bridge is narrow. You get a close look at Oluk Bridge from the open-top bus and can photograph it on the way to Tazi Canyon.
Will guests from other programmes travel with us?
Yes. On the bus and at the rafting centre you may be joined by guests who have chosen the zipline, a buggy or quad safari, or the Tazi Canyon and Selge tour.
Each programme has its own active part, so after lunch you relax by the river while the others finish theirs. The group travels back to the hotels together.
Can I go rafting with no experience?
Yes, no experience is needed. The rafting takes place on the Köprüçay River; the route is suitable for beginners and has no difficult rapids. There’s an instructor in every raft.
Before the start you’re shown how to sit, how to hold the paddle and how to follow commands. Everyone wears a helmet and a life jacket.
How cold is the water in the Köprüçay River?
The Köprüçay is a mountain river, so the water is cool, around 15–20°C.
If you feel the cold easily, you can hire a wetsuit for $10.
How long does the rafting take?
The rafting route is about 14 km long.
On the water it takes about 1.5–2 hours. The exact time depends on the water level and the pace of the group.
From what age can children go rafting?
Children can take part in the rafting from the age of 6. Children aged 0–5 travel free but don’t take part in the rafting.
Children aged 6–12 pay the child price and take part in the whole programme, including the rafting. From the age of 13 the adult price applies.
Can I choose a two-seater kayak?
Yes, you can. A two-seater kayak costs extra: $10 per kayak, not per person.
If you’d like this option, mention it in the “Special Requests” field when you book.
What shoes do I need for rafting?
You need shoes that stay firmly on your feet and don’t slip on wet surfaces. You are not allowed to go rafting barefoot.
At the rafting centre you can hire water shoes for $5 or buy a pair for $10.
Do I need a wetsuit?
In summer, swimwear is enough for most guests. A wetsuit is worth taking in spring or autumn, or if you get cold quickly in cool water. Wetsuit hire costs $10.
Where can I leave my things during the active part of the programme?
During the rafting your things stay on the open-top bus. While you’re on the water, the bus goes back to the rafting centre, and you pick up your things there after the finish.
It’s best not to bring valuables on the tour.
Are photos and video included in the price?
No, professional photos and video cost extra. Photos and video cost $15 per person. Buying them is optional.
During the rafting it’s best to leave your phone on the open-top bus with your things, so you don’t risk it on the water.
Will my child have their own seat on the bus?
Children aged 6–12 pay the child price, and each of them gets their own seat. Children aged 0–5 travel free and don’t get a seat of their own: they sit on an adult’s lap.
If you want your little one to have their own seat on the bus, book them at the price for children aged 6–12.
