  • Our first stop will be the viewpoint near the Lower Duden Waterfall, offering stunning views of this magnificent natural wonder. The water roars down from a height of 45 meters into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a cloud of tiny water droplets at the bottom.
  • The Lower Duden Waterfall is the largest waterfall in the world that flows directly into the open sea. You will have the chance to enjoy this natural marvel from the sea during the next part of our program: a yacht tour along the Antalya coast.
  • Our comfortable yacht will sail along the Antalya coastline, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the city from a different perspective.
  • After the yacht tour, we will head to a local café for lunch, included in the tour cost, to replenish your energy before continuing our journey in Antalya's oldest district, Kaleici.
  • Kaleici is a historic district that has preserved its ancient atmosphere. The marble triumphal arch of Hadrian’s Gate serves as the main entrance, transporting you from the modern world to the past.
  • We will provide you with approximately 1.5 hours of free time to explore the cobblestone streets of Kaleici, where you will encounter historic landmarks such as the Saat Kulesi Clock Tower, Hidirlik Tower, Mehmet Pasha Mosque, Karatay Medrese, Yivli Minaret, and the old harbor.

About the Attractions

KALEICI (OLD TOWN)

  • Antalya is the largest resort city in southern Turkey, attracting millions of tourists from around the world each year. The city offers luxury hotels, shops, cafes, restaurants, and pristine beaches along the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Among the numerous attractions, start with Kaleici, the historic district that preserves the ancient atmosphere and rich history of Antalya.
  • The high walls that once protected the port have kept the town almost in its original state, although only fragments of the walls remain.
  • The main landmark of ancient architecture is Hadrian's Gate, a marble triumphal arch with columns, built in honor of the Roman Emperor. This gate acts as a portal from the modern world to the past. Once you pass through it, you enter a different Turkey with narrow streets, cobblestone roads, cozy houses, and buildings that are cultural heritage sites, such as the Kesik Minaret, Murat Pasha Mosque (16th century), and the house of Kemal Ataturk.
  • The Hidirlik Tower is another historic relic, a 14-meter-tall brick structure from the gladiator era. Historians have different opinions about its purpose, with some suggesting it was a lighthouse, others a defense structure, and some believe it was used for water storage. Regardless, the tower offers a panoramic view of Kaleici port and the entire Antalya coast.

CLOCK TOWER (SAAT KULESI)

  • Saat Kulesi, the clock tower of Antalya, is a historical landmark and a symbol of the city, often depicted on guides, stamps, and postcards. It is located in Kale Kapısı Square, near the entrance to Kaleici, and is a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike.
  • Historical records trace the tower back to the 19th century, built in 1901 as a gift from German Emperor Wilhelm II to Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid. Similar clock towers can be found in other Turkish cities, like Kemer.
  • The exact purpose of the tower remains unknown, with some historians believing it was built specifically for the clock face, while others think it was part of fortifications.
  • The structure remains largely unchanged, featuring a two-tiered design with a five-sided lower part made of rough stone and a smooth, four-sided upper part. Originally topped with an iron dome, the tower was later modified due to a strong hurricane. The clock, decorated with figures of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary until 1974, still accurately tells time.

YIVLI MINARET

  • The Yivli Minaret is visible from anywhere in the city. This 800-year-old architectural monument of Islamic culture symbolizes victory in the Mediterranean War. Designed by Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad, the 38-meter-tall tower with an eight-column middle tier and pointed dome remains largely unchanged. The spiral staircase inside has 90 steps, and some parts of the façade's blue brick mosaic have fallen off, revealing the stone structure, adding to its ancient charm.
  • The minaret was initially attached to a Byzantine church, later converted into a mosque. The current building was constructed in 1372 by architect Balaban Tavasi, using remaining ancient fragments. Visitors can tour the mosque during the Antalya tour, following simple dress code rules: no shorts or short-sleeved shirts, modest clothing covering most of the body, women must cover their heads with a scarf, and shoes must be removed before entering.
  • Avoid entering during prayer times. Inside the mosque, move slowly, speak quietly, and photography is allowed except for people, especially Muslim women. Men's permission is required before taking photos of them, and phones should be turned off to avoid fines.
  • Adjacent to these attractions are the tombs of Nigar Hatun and Zincirkiran, and the Mevlevi House, an exhibition hall displaying manuscripts, everyday items, musical instruments, looms, and tapestries.

LOWER DUDEN WATERFALL

  • The Antalya sightseeing tour includes a visit to the city’s jewel, the Duden Waterfalls. Despite their common name and the fact that they are formed by the same river, they are two entirely different waterfalls, separated by 15 kilometers.
  • The Lower Duden Waterfall, 45 meters high, is located in Lara district’s park, with free entry to the park area. It is the highest freshwater waterfall in the world that flows into the open sea. It can be admired from a viewpoint or from the sea, with tourists claiming the best view is from passing yachts and ships. The powerful water flow creates a cloud of tiny water particles at the bottom, accompanied by a rainbow during the day and colorful lights at night.
  • Another name for the Lower Duden Waterfall is Karpuzkaldiran, which translates to “jumping watermelon.” One version of the name’s origin is that the river overflowed, washing away a nearby melon patch. Another version is that locals floated watermelons down the river but didn’t always catch them in time.
  • This natural wonder is a must-see, followed by a walk through the park's shady alleys, a relaxing break at a cozy café, and enjoying aromatic coffee while listening to the sound of falling water.
