How does the Cappadocia tour from Belek work?

Day 1

A pickup at night or early in the morning

At night or early in the morning we pick you up at your hotel gate, just outside the barrier, and set off for Cappadocia. The transfer time depends on your hotel — usually between 03:00 and 05:00; the exact time for your hotel will be on your e-ticket.

While it’s still dark outside, you can doze in your seat. The route runs via Manavgat (Kızılağaç junction), Akseki, Seydişehir and Konya: first over the Taurus Mountains, then across the wide plains of central Turkey, which slowly emerge outside the window as the sun comes up. There’s no toilet on the bus, but it stops regularly at petrol stations and roadside cafés along the way.

Breakfast with a view of the Taurus Mountains

Our first stop is for breakfast, at a restaurant with a fine view of the Taurus Mountains. Here you can stretch your legs after the drive, have a tea or coffee and recharge before the sightseeing begins. Breakfast is paid separately: you can order something at the restaurant or bring food with you.

Narrow passages and hidden rooms in an underground city

One of the first big stops in Cappadocia is an underground city. As you go down, the passages narrow, and ancient rooms, storerooms, corridors and shelters open up around you. Underground the air keeps its own temperature: cooler than outside in summer, warmer in winter.

Along the way the guide explains how Cappadocia’s underground cities were built, why people moved below ground and how whole communities managed to live here. This is where you start to get to know Cappadocia’s history; its valleys come after lunch.

A rock-cut church with Bible scenes in its frescoes

Next we drive to a rock-cut church. Its walls still carry frescoes: scenes from the Bible and images of saints.

The guide explains why early Christians, monks and hermits chose these particular rocks to live in. The whole church is carved out of the rock: its walls and vaults weren’t built, but cut into the natural stone.

Lunch, then the views over Uçhisar, Pigeon Valley and Göreme

After the underground city and the rock-cut church comes lunch at a restaurant serving local food. It’s optional, at an extra charge of $17.

After lunch it’s time for Cappadocia’s panoramas. Uçhisar stands out from far away: its tall rock castle rises above the surrounding land, and from the viewing platform nearby you look out over valleys and strangely shaped rocks.

In Pigeon Valley the dovecotes are hollowed straight out of the stone walls. From the platform above Göreme you look down on rock-cut settlements and valleys. These are short stops at viewpoints, and you won’t have far to go on foot; the guide gives you time for photos.

Hotel, buffet dinner and an evening of your choice

In the evening we arrive at the hotel. After check-in you can rest after the journey, freshen up and get ready for dinner.

A night at the deluxe Alp Hotel Cappadocia is included in the tour price. If you prefer, you can choose the World Cave House cave hotel for an extra charge.

You’ll find more about the hotels, how rooms are allocated and when the single supplement applies further down, in the “Hotel options in Cappadocia” section.

Dinner at the hotel is a buffet, with nothing extra to pay. You can spend the evening at the hotel or choose one of the optional programmes.

The sunset trip to the Red Valley costs $20 per person. In clear weather the rocks take on warm colours as the sun goes down, and it’s a good spot for photos.

The Turkish Night show costs $40 per person. It’s an evening of traditional Turkish music and dance, performed on stage.

The evening programmes are optional. Your guide will tell you their times, order and content on the spot, and you can buy them directly from the guide.

Day 2

Sunrise balloons: a flight of about an hour, or watching from a viewpoint

If you’ve chosen the flight or the viewpoint, day two starts before dawn: weather permitting, this is when Cappadocia’s famous hot-air balloons rise over the valleys.

There are two options, and you can choose one of them if you wish. The first is a hot-air balloon flight lasting about an hour, with wide views over the valleys, gorges and rock formations of Cappadocia.

The price of the flight depends on the season and demand and is usually €100–300. Your guide gives you the exact price on day one of the tour. The balloons only go up in suitable weather, and the wind is what decides it; if the flight is cancelled, the money you paid for it is refunded.

The second option is a trip to a viewpoint, where you watch the balloons take off and take photos. This costs $40 per person. If the balloons don’t go up because of the weather, the money for the viewing is refunded too.

Breakfast at the hotel, included in the price

Those who joined the sunrise programme return to the hotel for breakfast afterwards.

Breakfast is included in the tour price. Then you pack, check out of your room, and the day carries on in the valleys.

Rock pillars in Love Valley and animal-shaped rocks in Imagination Valley

Before leaving, we visit two of the region’s best-known valleys.

Love Valley is seen from above, from a viewing platform: unusual rock pillars rise below you, and there’s time to photograph them.

Next comes Imagination Valley, also called Devrent Valley, where you can make out animals, birds and other figures that nature has shaped in the rocks.

Potters at the wheel and an onyx workshop

The next stops introduce you to the region’s traditional crafts.

At the pottery workshop you watch the potters at the wheel and learn how Cappadocia’s well-known ceramics are made.

Then we call at a workshop where onyx and other natural stones are worked. You see how the stone is turned into souvenirs and jewellery, and you can buy something if you like.

A thirteenth-century caravanserai and lunch in Konya

On the way back we stop at a caravanserai built in the thirteenth century. Merchants and travellers on the Silk Road once rested here; today you can take a look at the architecture of the period and take some photos to remember the trip.

The route then takes you through Konya, where we stop for lunch. As on day one, lunch is optional and costs $17 per person. After the break the bus climbs back into the Taurus Mountains and heads for the coast.

Back to your hotel in Belek

After two packed days in Cappadocia you return to Belek with photos of the underground city, the rock-cut church, the valleys and the views over Uçhisar and Göreme.

Guests are usually back at their hotels between 19:30 and 20:30. The exact time depends on where your hotel is, on traffic and on the pace of the group.

If you’d like to see Cappadocia in two days — an underground city, a rock-cut church, the valleys and, if you choose, a sunrise with the balloons — join our tour. Book your seat online with no prepayment and pay for the tour on the bus on the day.

Hotel options in Cappadocia
A night at the deluxe Alp Hotel Cappadocia is already included in the tour price. For a stay that feels truly Cappadocian, you can choose a cave hotel for a fixed extra charge.

Please note: the tour programme is the same whichever hotel you choose. The transfer, guide, insurance, meals and all the stops stay the same. The only difference is the hotel where you spend the night in Cappadocia.

Deluxe — Alp Hotel Cappadocia

Staying at this deluxe hotel costs nothing on top of the tour price.

Cave hotel — World Cave House | $30 extra

A cave hotel gives your stay a real Cappadocian feel. The rooms are set inside the rock itself, so even your night’s sleep becomes part of the trip.

If you’d like to stay in the cave hotel, please mention it in the “Special Requests” field when you book.

If the hotel you’ve chosen is fully booked, we’ll put you up at a hotel of a similar standard.

Room allocation

Your room depends on how many of you there are:

  • two people — a double room, no extra charge;
  • three people — a triple room, no extra charge;
  • four people — two double rooms, no extra charge;
  • travelling alone — a single room with a compulsory supplement of $20. Two guests who are each travelling alone can agree to share a room and tell the guide; they then get one room together and neither pays the supplement. Without such a request, we don’t put guests who don’t know each other in the same room.

What is included

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off
  • English-speaking guide
  • Insurance
  • Entrance ticket to the underground city
  • Entrance ticket to the rock-cut church
  • Dinner at the hotel on day one
  • Breakfast at the hotel on day two
  • A night at the deluxe Alp Hotel Cappadocia (the World Cave House cave hotel costs extra)

  • Breakfast on day one
  • Lunches — $17 each
  • Hot-air balloon flight — roughly €100–300 depending on the season
  • Sunrise balloon viewing — $40
  • Sunset trip to the Red Valley — $20
  • Turkish Night show — $40
  • Single supplement — $20 (compulsory for guests travelling alone)
  • Cave hotel supplement — $30
All prices are per person. Apart from the single supplement, all of these extras are optional: you pay only for what you choose.

Important information about optional extras

During the tour, all optional extras can only be booked through our guide and our partners. This applies to the hot-air balloon flight, sunrise balloon viewing, the Red Valley sunset trip, the Turkish Night show, photo and video services, separate transfers and any other paid services on the programme.

Please note that buying paid services from other companies or private individuals during the tour is not allowed. This doesn’t apply to purchases at the stops: you can buy snacks, drinks and souvenirs anywhere. This rule keeps the group on schedule and makes sure your insurance and organised return transfer stay in place. If a guest still goes ahead and buys services outside the tour programme, this counts as a breach of the tour terms: the guest is excluded from the rest of the tour and no return transfer is provided.

We’re telling you this openly and in advance so there are no misunderstandings on the spot. Most tour operators have similar rules, but they don’t always spell them out on their websites. We want you to know the terms before you book, so you can plan your trip with peace of mind.

What to bring

  • Passport or national ID card — you need it to check in at the hotel
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes for the underground city and the stops by the rocks
  • Warm clothes: mornings and evenings in Cappadocia can be cool even in summer
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Water for the journey
  • A light snack — breakfast on day one isn’t included in the price. Something light will do: a bread roll from your hotel breakfast, fruit or nuts.
  • Camera or phone with a charged battery, and ideally a power bank
  • Cash for lunches, souvenirs, optional programmes and supplements

Distance to Cappadocia

  • Kadriye to Cappadocia: 513 km, about 6 hours 55 minutes
  • Belek to Cappadocia: 508 km, about 6 hours 50 minutes
  • Boğazkent to Cappadocia: 506 km, about 6 hours 45 minutes
Distances and travel times are based on Google Maps and are intended as a guide. The actual journey time depends on traffic and on how long it takes to pick up guests from other hotels.

FAQ about the Cappadocia tour from Belek

How much does the Cappadocia tour from Belek cost?
Adults and children 8+ $45, children 4–7 $30, 0–3 free. The price includes a deluxe hotel, entrance tickets, an English-speaking guide and transfer.

How do I book the Cappadocia tour from Belek?
Choose the date and the number of adults and children in the “Online Booking” form; the total is worked out automatically. In the form that opens, enter your full name, hotel, WhatsApp number and email, then send it. No prepayment: you pay on the bus on the day of the tour. Once your booking is confirmed, we send you an e-ticket with the exact pickup time via WhatsApp or Telegram. For step-by-step instructions with pictures, see “How to book and pay on the bus”.

Why does the tour start so early?
Cappadocia is a long way from Belek, about 505–515 km, and the drive takes about 7 hours, not counting stops. That’s why we leave at night or early in the morning, usually between 03:00 and 05:00: it gives the group time to complete the first day’s programme and reach the hotel by evening. While it’s dark, you can rest or sleep on the bus until the breakfast stop.

Why is the Cappadocia tour from Belek so affordable?
The base price isn’t loaded with extras. It covers the transfer, the hotel, dinner on day one, breakfast on day two, insurance, the guide, and entry to the underground city and the rock-cut church. That’s enough to see Cappadocia’s main sights and complete the full two-day programme.

Extras that not everyone wants are up to you: the balloon flight, sunrise balloon viewing, the Red Valley sunset, the Turkish Night show, lunches or the cave hotel. So the final cost depends on what you want, not on an expensive package put together in advance. The only compulsory extra is the single supplement, for guests travelling alone.

What’s the difference between the cave hotel and the deluxe hotel?
The tour programme is the same whichever you choose; you simply spend the night in Cappadocia at a different hotel.

  • Alp Hotel Cappadocia (deluxe) — included in the tour price.
  • World Cave House cave hotel — $30 extra.
To book the cave hotel, write this in the “Special Requests” field of the booking form.

Do I pay extra if I’m travelling alone?
Yes. Guests travelling alone pay a single supplement of $20. This supplement is compulsory; all other extras are optional. Two, three or four guests pay no supplement: two get a double room, three a triple room, and four are put in two double rooms. If you’ve agreed with another guest in the group who is also travelling alone to share a room, tell the guide, and neither of you pays the $20 supplement. We don’t arrange this without your request.

How much does a hot-air balloon flight cost?
A balloon flight usually costs €100–300 per person. The price varies with the season and demand, and your guide will tell you the exact figure on day one of the tour.

Before signing you up for a flight, the guide checks the current price with the partner operator and passes it on to guests. Whether you fly is entirely up to you. There’s no need to look for and book a flight yourself in advance: prices only become clear closer to the date. Under the tour terms, however, flying with a third-party company that isn’t part of the tour programme is not allowed. This applies both to flights bought in advance and to flights bought on the spot. If this rule is broken, the guest is excluded from the rest of the tour.

What happens if the flight is cancelled because of the weather or wind?
The balloons only fly in suitable weather, and the wind matters most. A preliminary decision is made in advance and confirmed on the morning of the flight. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather or wind, the money you paid for it is refunded. In that case the price of sunrise balloon viewing is refunded too.

The tour itself carries on: the group has breakfast, checks out of the hotel, visits the day-two sights on the programme and returns to Belek.

Can I see the sunrise balloons without flying?
Yes, choose sunrise balloon viewing. It costs $40 per person. We take you to a viewpoint where, in suitable weather, you get a clear view of the balloons rising into the sky at dawn. It’s a good option if you’re not planning to fly but still want to see a morning with balloons over Cappadocia and take photos. If the balloons don’t fly because of the weather, the money for the viewing is refunded.

Can I do both the flight and the sunrise balloon viewing?
No, you need to choose one. The balloon flight and the sunrise balloon viewing take place at about the same time, at dawn, so you can’t do both on the same morning.

From what age can children fly in a hot-air balloon?
Children are usually allowed to fly from the age of 6 and a height of 120 cm. Rules vary slightly between operators, so your guide will confirm the exact conditions on the spot, before you sign up for a flight.

Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes, it can suit children who cope well with long journeys. We pick you up from your hotel at night or early in the morning, roughly between 03:00 and 05:00, and the drive takes about 7 hours each way, not counting stops.

School-age children often love the underground city, the valleys, the viewpoints and the balloons. With little ones, though, it’s worth thinking carefully beforehand about whether they’ll be comfortable on a trip like this. Children who travel free don’t have their own seat on the bus and sit on an adult’s lap. If your child needs a seat of their own, book them at the child rate.

Which meals are included, and which are paid separately?
The price includes dinner at the hotel on day one and breakfast at the hotel on day two.

Breakfast on day one and lunches are paid separately. In the morning you can bring food with you or buy breakfast at the stop in the Taurus Mountains. There are two lunch stops on the route: on day one in Cappadocia and on day two in Konya. Each lunch costs $17 per person.

Is there a toilet on the bus?
No, there’s no toilet on board, but we make regular stops at petrol stations and roadside cafés. There you can use the toilet, stretch your legs and buy water or a snack. The breakfast stop after the night or early-morning departure is in the Taurus Mountains.

What should I bring besides the usual things?
Please be sure to bring your passport or national ID card: the hotel can’t check you in without it. You’ll also need comfortable closed-toe shoes, warm clothes for the morning and evening, water, and cash for lunches and optional programmes. Cappadocia can feel cool in the morning and evening, even in summer. If you take a lot of photos on your phone, a power bank is a good idea.

What time does the tour start and finish?
On day one we pick guests up from their hotels roughly between 03:00 and 05:00. On day two the group is back at the hotels roughly between 19:30 and 20:30. In both cases the exact time depends on where your hotel is, on traffic and on the overall pace of the group.

Do I have to buy anything at the pottery or onyx workshop?
No, you don’t have to buy anything. The pottery workshop and the onyx and stone workshop are on the route as sightseeing stops. You can simply watch the craftspeople at work and look at what they make. Whether you buy anything is entirely up to you.

Can I stay at a hotel of my own choice?
No. On this group tour, guests stay only at the hotels included in the package: Alp Hotel Cappadocia, the cave hotel or, if there are no rooms left, a hotel of a similar standard. This matters for the schedule, the transfers and the insurance.
